Those interested in becoming a truck driver need to get into a truck driving school. Many of you probably have a few questions. Things like how long does it take to get your certification to drive? And what kind of flexibility do I have when I am out on the road? These are important questions to ask, so here are four questions with answers that may help people decide if truck driving is right for you.
Our “Big Four” CDL School Questions:
1. How long does it take to get certified? Depending on the school, it could take about 90 days. It varies from school to school. In good schools, there is the desk classes and then time on the road.
2. Is there flexibility in traveling while hauling shipment? Yes. You get to choose when and where to stop. The drivers who make the most money have time management so that they can create a more flexible lifestyle for themselves.
3. Will I ever earn three digits as a truck driver? Yes. There are a lot of experienced drivers that earn over $100,000 yearly. Just remember that you have to pay your dues and it doesn’t happen the first year. The harder you work, the more money you can make.
4. Do I have to be gone for weeks on end from my family? No. You can choose the job that best works for you. Yes, there are long hauls that keep drivers out on the road for weeks on end, but there are also regional jobs or day jobs. Regional jobs let you be home on the weekends and day jobs let you be home every night. You choose your job.
If you are still interested in becoming a driver and these questions were helpful, we want to let you know that there are many truck driving schools out there.
