Whenever we talk about job satisfaction, the most common sentence we use is “It is impossible to find job satisfaction”. At the same time some people say find a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.
It is not easy to follow your passions but those who can chase their passion have the power to make the most out of his or her career. If you have the zeal to work and live in what you do, you must convert your passions into your regular job or find something more interesting to replace your passion.
Anyways, when you ask a kid about what he or she wants to be in future, you are sure to get some answer like an engineer or a doctor, a lawyer or a pilot etc. They always have more than one choice to select. You know that they fantasizing everything. What do you think when a 10th standard student tells you that perhaps he wants to be a doctor! You would surely say that he or she is no where close to the real world.
But do you really think someone who is really working for a long time really knows what he wanted to be! Is he doing what he always wanted to do!
I don’t think so. As far as my experience goes, their situation is nothing better than those kids who had more than one option to select.
Why?
It is impossible to know what a job profile actually requires unless you join the company or an organization. Does it mean that you should not do enough inquiries before preparing you for such a job! Do not forget that you would need to spend a lot of precious time of your life with that job profile!
For example, if you ask someone who wanted to be a doctor about why he wants to be a doctor what is the most common answer? Most of the kids would say that because their father or someone he knows is a doctor and he or she would also like to move with a stethoscope. If you ask the 10th standard student about why he or she wants to be a doctor, most would reply that they would be able to help the poor and would serve the country.
Is it all about being a doctor? Does a doctor always have the opportunity to help the poor! A lot of doctors need to do some mundane official jobs that have nothing to do with what he had learnt in his college. And do you really think that the boy or girl have enough courage to cut open someone’s heart! Do you think that they ever evaluated these situations!
I am not saying that someone must take the initiative to tell those kids about what it means to become a doctor. I told these just to show the differences between the ideal and the actual situation. A lot of matured people too do not have any idea about what it takes to be into their dream company. Something that sounds good may not always be as good.
And now when they say that they are not satisfied with the job and start an online job search, do you really think that they did a good career planning!
